Les
Citronniers is in the heart of the highly visited Basses Cevennes
region. Surrounded by hectares of vineyards, valleys of sweet chestnuts,
and hills known as the 'guarrigues' covered in evergreen oak, thyme
and juniper.
There
is an abundance of interesting places to visit around Anduze:
The
giant bamboos at Générargues, the myriad potteries,
and the Musée du Désert, which is an important centre
for Protestants. You can ride on the Petit Train à vapeur des Cévennes,
the little railway which winds around the glorious landscape from
Anduze to St Jean du Gard with its museum of cevenole traditions.
You
are also perfectly placed to reach other parts of the Gard. The
Roman town of Nîmes is 45 km away, the Pont du Gard 50 km,
the Mediterranean sea 60 km, and Mont Aigoual 65 km. The throats of Hérault and the abbey of St Guihlem are 60 km away, as well as the circus of Navacelles. The Viaduct of Millau is 80 km away .
